I’m one of those idiots who loves the horror genre. I don’t know why, but I’m hooked. I love the excitement of horror games, movies, urban legends, creepypasta, and all the other forms scary stories come in. My first introduction to horror movies came in my pre-teens, and I saw so many in such a quick succession that it’s impossible for me to say which came first. Darkness Falls, The Sixth Sense, Final Destination, Ghost Ship, They, 28 Days Later, Rose Red, Feardotcom (remember that one?), The Exorcist, and goddess knows how many more. The one I have a deep love for though is The Ring, because it’s so much more than a scary movie. The Ring gets a lot of flak, mostly for being an American remake, but it remains one of the most beautiful and melancholy films I’ve ever seen. It taught me to expect more from horror movies than just mindless violence and gore. To me, atmosphere is what really makes a horror movie. Of course I love Halloween as well. It’s my favorite holiday, and I love to have horror movie marathons that night. Here’s a group of movies that for different reasons I feel are good movies to spend Halloween with.

Am I the only one who thinks coming up with a survival kit is one of the most fun parts of NaNo? It’s like we’re explorers headed out on a dangerous journey to uncharted territory. I’ve had the joy of putting together my first NaNoWriMo Survival Kit, and here it is:
      My laptop Mirai-chan
      OpenOffice Writer with white text
My gawdawful Nakamichi earbuds and RainyMood
Notebooks don’t know which ones yet because I have to save some for school
Super old chapstick that I haven’t been able to replace yet
Lovely smelling and comforting Jergens lotion
My fingerless texting gloves IF I CAN FIND THEM
My lovely backpack from The Heirs to put all my shit in
Girls Generation IGAB Sunny Hat/Hooded Robe
      Candle to light for Brigid
My meds so I don’t go off the deep end
Kitties and doggy to cuddle with against their will
Lots of water and Teddy Grams, caramels, Bubble Yum, grapes, and cereal for quick meals
My yoga charts and meditation music for wellness breaks
      K-Pop for mood lift
Long neglected gratitude journal for perspective
