It’s that time of year again. The weather’s getting hotter (unfortunately), I’m going to be turning another year older (unfortunately), and one of the greatest events of the year is approaching. That’s right, it’s the Steam Summer Sale! What were you expecting? I look forward to the big Steam sale every 6 months, once in the winter and once in the summer. This years summer sale is rumored to start June 22, and I’ve been hauling ass to make it in time. Usually the Steam sale sneaks up on me, even though I know full well that it is coming. It tried to surprise me this year, but I caught on to its tricks and started survey overtime in April. I’ve been doing surveys until my brain melted out my ears, and I’ve gathered a decent amount of points on the sites I’m a member of. Mintvine surprised me, I ended up getting a lot more points than I expected when usually I don’t complete a lot of surveys or get a lot of points. Toluna has disappointed me. It seems like there’s been a lot less surveys and a lot more errors lately. In the past I’ve had trouble keeping up with the amount of surveys Toluna’s had, but now I only find a couple on the page. Global Test Market meanwhile decided to be a dick and remove Steam cards from their rewards. I’ve asked them to add it back, but so far no dice. It cos#t a lot less points to get $20 in Steam cards than it does to get $20 in PayPal money, so I’m not too happy about that. I’m going to continue doing surveys until I absolutely have to cash out, because most of them take a few weeks to pay you. Summer also happens to be my hosting and domain renewal time, so that’s cut into my Steam fund quite a bit, but everything left over is going to my sweet, sweet weeb games. Every year, because I can’t contain my excitement, I make a shortlist of games I want from my wishlist, going from Tier 1 to Tier 3. Tier 1 being absolutely have to have, Tier 2 meaning I really want it, and Tier 3 is only if there’s a really good sale. Then I revise the list leading up to the start date. I’ve got it down to 28 games, and this will probably be the final version. I might make it to 10 games? I also had the sense to start gathering next sales trading cards after the winter sale happened. I have several badges waiting to go as soon as the summer sale cards start dropping. They don’t make a ton of money, but every little bit counts.

After two and a half years Lost in Tokyo.org has a new layout, this time made by yours truly. It was a real bitch to make too. It gave me trouble every step of the way. I’ve made many layouts over the last 12 years, so I know what I’m doing to a reasonable extent, but things that I had no problem with before went wrong this time. The divs, the links, the fonts, even FontAwesome was being a jerk to me. Finally I was able to force everything together, and I even checked it on Firefox instead of just being a Chrome elitist. I’m still in the process of revamping the site. The content hasn’t been updated in a while, so I’m starting mostly from scratch. I should finish everything in a couple weeks.
